Under Pengcheng Square, the much-anticipated "Chengxia City Ruins Museum" will be officially unveiled. The Chengxia City Ruins Museum is another cultural landmark of Xuzhou. The building covers an area of about 4,845 square meters. Like a corner of a book standing still on the square, the architectural layout includes four major sections: the main entrance, the roof square, the grass slope courtyard and the waterfall courtyard.
Walking into the solemn red door of the museum, a wordless history book is slowly opening, silently interpreting the vicissitudes of the ancient city of Xuzhou. One of the important characteristics of the ancient city of Xuzhou is that it has been thousands of years since the city was built, and the site of the city is hardly easy to find. In recent years, with the continuous development of urban construction, the stacked city spectacle of "the city under the city, the street under the street, and the underground well" with a thickness of more than ten meters has gradually become true and breathtaking.
The Chengxiacheng Ruins Museum focuses on displaying the original appearance of the 950-square-meter archaeological exploration site excavated here from April to November 2020, including 4 courtyards, 14 house foundations, 2 road remains, 1 well, and 1 stove remains. In the eastern part of the exhibition area, there is also a proven unarchaeological area of nearly 1,000 square meters, which will be displayed and developed in the future. Judging from the excavation of the Xiacheng site of Pengcheng Square, the house site is the remains of residential buildings in Xuzhou City in the Ming Dynasty. There are blacksmith shops, tofu workshops, stoves and other living facilities.
Around Pengcheng Square, there are rich cultural relics, including Jindi Shangdu Underground Site, International Commercial Building Underground Site, Pengcheng Square Site, Fashion Avenue Underground Site, Pengcheng No. 1 Site, Suning Square Underground Site, Xuzhou Wei Site, and Chenghuang Temple Site. , large in scale, rich in content and complete preservation, the construction of Xuzhou Chengxiacheng Ruins Museum assumes an important role in properly handling the rich historical relics and urban ruins contained in the underground of Xuzhou ancient city.
The Xuzhou City Xiacheng Site Museum relies on the construction of the underground space transportation connection project of Pengcheng Square, which organically combines the subway transfer space, cultural relics exhibition, slow traffic system and commercial space. The two underground passages on the south and west sides of the underground space show the history of Xuzhou respectively. The features of Taiping Street and Tongtong Street organically integrate Xuzhou's "ancient" and "modern", truly showing the evolution of Xuzhou's 2,600-year urban construction, fully embodying the unique cultural connotation of seeing a thousand years at a glance and seeing everything in one museum. The status of the city's historical and cultural city.
As an important node running through the central axis of Xuzhou city, the birthplace and bearing area of the urban context, the cultural treasure house and thousands of mysteries contained in the Xuzhou Underground City Ruins are rare wonders in the history of cities in my country and even in the world. The deep cultural heritage and confidence of the central city of the district.
