June 11 is the "Cultural and Natural Heritage Day" in 2022. How to inherit Xuzhou's intangible cultural heritage? The two non-genetic inheritors of our city gave their answers with actions.

On June 11, in the opera rehearsal classroom of Jiangsu Model Art School, the melodious and crisp drum beats echoed in the campus accompanied by the high-pitched and passionate Bangzi opera. The 58-year-old national intangible cultural heritage project, Mr. Yan Ling, the inheritor of Xuzhou Bangzi, is concentrating on rehearsing a new play for the students.

She did her best to demonstrate and guide the students in every aspect of footwork, posture, eyes, gestures, spirit, singing and so on. It is understood that Yanling comes to the Bangzi class of Jiangsu Model Art School three to four times a week to teach Xuzhou Bangzi culture. These more than 21 students have devoted a lot of effort and hope to her.

"Xuzhou's traditional culture will not be inherited without successors. No matter how hard it is, we must persevere." Yan Ling said.

The restoration of the ancient buildings of the former residence of Cui Tao in Mount Hubu is also in full swing. The person in charge of this project is 77-year-old Sun Tongyi, who is the inheritor of the Jiangsu provincial intangible cultural heritage - Xuzhou traditional architectural construction techniques.

During the restoration of Cui Tao's former residence, Sun Tongyi adhered to the principle of not changing the original appearance of the building, protecting and restoring ancient buildings. At the construction site, Sun Tongyi taught the students to use intangible cultural heritage techniques.

Sun Tongyi's ancient construction team has absorbed some young people who have graduated from colleges and universities and are fond of ancient architecture. The highly skilled ancient building restoration team formed by them has successively presided over the restoration of ancient buildings such as Yujia Courtyard, Cuijia Courtyard, and Tushan Guandi Temple in Pizhou.

"For these buildings, it's like talking to my old friends. I will try my best to do as much as I can, and I will do as much as I can." Sun Tongyi said.

Every intangible person in Xuzhou is not only the owner of technology, but also shoulders the responsibility and mission of inheritance. Through years of unremitting efforts, they have made the intangible cultural heritage projects live in the present, and let the "intangible cultural heritage" bloom more charmingly in the new era.
