Appreciation of the work
The mountain is a Buddha, and the Buddha is a mountain. The line of sight in this painting is very peculiar, about the same height as the shoulders of the Buddha. This line of sight retains the elevation of the Buddha, showing the height and majesty of the Buddha, but also overlooks the mountains and rivers like the Buddha, showing the view from above. With this two-way view, the pavilion at the top of Lingyun Mountain is "painted on its back with flying eaves", while the rapids of Minjiang River and the double boats are almost vertically overlooked. This two-way view is not possible with the camera and focal point perspective, and should be said to be Li Keran's bold creation. The work also uses the pavilions, people, houses and boats surrounding the Buddha to set off the majestic height of the Buddha from multiple angles. (Collated by Wang Luxiang, August 2001)
