Appreciation of Works

Li Keran painted mountains, paying special attention to the overall sense of the mountain shape, so his paintings of the Yellow Mountains tend to strengthen its majestic and dangerous, but less expression of its strange and beautiful. This work is very creative in terms of depth of expression, using three parallel curves, one is the cloud belt around the mountain waist, one is the ridge line in the mid-view, and one is the mountain path interspersed with pine trees. The foreground and distant views are particularly well handled. The foreground takes up a small corner in the lower left and lower right corners of the painting, shaped like a doorway, and grandly introduces the middle scene. The distant view is a large dark area filling the canopy, which is also intended to highlight the middle view. (Collated by Wang Luxiang in August 2001)
