The 2024 Yangtze River Delta Reading Marathon is a large-scale public reading event initiated by Shanghai Library and Reading Marathon, jointly hosted by Nanjing Library, Zhejiang Library, and Anhui Provincial Library, and jointly organized by various public libraries. Since 2018, it has been held continuously for 7 sessions. This competition has 173 match points, 1508 teams, and a total of 11677 participants, setting a record for the most in history. Among them, Jiangsu Province has 28 competition points with 1210 participants.
According to the competition rules, participants in the Reading Marathon are required to skim and read a newly published but not yet publicly released book within 6 hours, and showcase their reading results through online quizzes and writing reflections. This year's competition book theme aims to test the contestants' reading comprehension and comprehensive analysis abilities.

Yunlong District Library
At the Yunlong District Library on September 21st, the registration for this year's competition continued the hot trend of the previous year, with a team formation rate of 350%, ranking among the top five in all participating venues. The total number of participating teams increased to 10, with a total of 50 contestants participating.
The book selected for this competition is "100 Great Moments of Chinese Science and Technology" written by Yang Yixian and Niu Xinxin. The book focuses on the 100 most representative great achievements of Chinese science and technology workers in many fields, and introduces relevant cutting-edge technology, scientific knowledge, and the stories behind them in an easy to understand manner, demonstrating the great spirit of Chinese scientists.
For this competition, the Yunlong District Library has carefully customized the costumes for all participants, whether they are loyal readers who have met through the competition, participated in the competition for three consecutive years, or new participants who are participating for the first time, everyone has put their best spirit into the competition.
After intense competition, all 50 contestants in the Yunlong District Library competition area have reached the medal line. The "Speak to You Team", "Yuedu · Yueji", and "Xiaoxiang Bamboo Pavilion" teams respectively ranked in the top three of the team's results. Among them, the "Speak to You Team" won the first place in the team with a time of 28 hours, 24 minutes, and 15 seconds, ranking tenth among all participating teams.
Shi Rongyan, Zhou Shufang, and Chen Cuiping respectively won the top three individual scores in this competition area. Among them, Shi Rongyan and Zhou Shufang ranked twelfth and thirteenth among all contestants with scores of 4 hours 12 minutes 33 seconds and 4 hours 14 minutes 30 seconds, respectively.
Next, the Yunlong District Library will take the competition as an opportunity to continue to play the role of the cultural main battlefield, continuously expand its service areas, optimize the reading environment, innovate reading promotion methods, actively create a high-quality and convenient cultural exchange platform, help promote national reading, and use reading to create a better world.
Economic Development Zone Library
On September 21st, the "2024 Yangtze River Delta Reading Marathon" Xuzhou Economic Development Zone Library sub event officially kicked off, with four participating teams consisting of 20 contestants holding a reading feast.
At 10am, the competition officially began. The "Reading Horse" contestants immersed themselves in the sea of books, carefully reading and thinking. After several hours of reading, the contestants confidently entered the answering area, and finally all 20 contestants in the library competition of the Economic Development Zone reached the medal line. Multiple teams stood out with excellent reading speed, profound comprehension, and good reading strategies, winning awards in the competition.
In order to allow more readers to experience the charm of the Reading Marathon, the Xuzhou Economic Development Zone Library has also set up a 30 person "Reading Marathon Companion" section at the event site.
This Reading Marathon is the first time that the Xuzhou Economic Development Zone Library has held this event. The library manager stated that the successful holding of the event is an important attempt for library service innovation and regional cultural cooperation. Next, the Xuzhou Economic Development Zone Library will continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation with various cultural institutions in the Yangtze River Delta region, hold more diverse reading promotion activities, and build a broader learning and exchange platform for citizens, jointly promoting the prosperous development of cultural affairs in Xuzhou Economic Development Zone and the Yangtze River Delta region.
Fengxian Library
On April 20th of this year, the Fengxian Library held the second Reading Marathon Challenge in the comprehensive reading room on the second floor. This event starts at 14:00 and ends at 17:00. Participants need to read the book and complete their reading notes within 3 hours.
At the event, the contestants focused on reading, experiencing the charm of intensive reading and immersive reading. At the end of the event, the library presented commemorative medals and prizes to the readers who successfully challenged themselves. In addition, the library also selected first, second, and third prizes based on readers' reading notes and held an award ceremony.
This award ceremony brings a variety of cultural and entertainment activities to readers, promoting excellent Chinese culture and inspiring readers to draw wisdom and strength from reading through various forms of programs such as recitation, dance, and speeches.
