Memorial Park of Yuwangshan Anti Japanes

Description

The Yuwang Mountain Anti Japanese Resistance War Site Memorial Park is located on Yuwang Mountain in Daizhuang Town, Pizhou City, covering an area of 247 acres. It was designed by the Architectural Design Institute of Tsinghua University and is the largest and best preserved anti Japanese war site in Xuzhou and even northern Jiangsu.
The main peak of Yuwang Mountain has an altitude of 124.6 meters, with the canal to the west and Taierzhuang to the north. It is a commanding high point in the surrounding area and its strategic position is very important. From April 22 to May 19, 1938, under the command of Commander Lu Han, the 60th Army of the National Revolutionary Army was ordered to intercept the Japanese army in the Pibei area centered around Yuwang Mountain, severely damaging the two most elite elite divisions of the Japanese army, covering the strategic transfer of hundreds of thousands of troops in the Fifth Theater Command, and winning valuable time for the deployment of the key battle in the early stages of the Anti Japanese War, the "Wuhan Defense War.". The 60th Army made enormous sacrifices for this, resulting in 13869 deaths, 430 missing, and 4545 injured, including 178 officers at or above the platoon level.
The Yuwang Mountain Anti Japanese Resistance War Site Memorial Park includes trench sites, memorial squares, memorial halls, memorial pavilions, Yuwang Garden, Jianhu and other facilities. It has been included in the second batch of national level anti Japanese war commemorative facilities and sites announced by the State Council, and is the only national level anti Japanese war commemorative site (facility) in Xuzhou City.
